MAHBO
El MAHBO viene a cubrir un espacio anhelado, en la ciudad de El Bolsón, un museo artístico histórico que atesora el patrimonio cultural intangible y tangible de esta comunidad. En él, la sociedad recolecta, conserva, difunde, explica y se pregunta sobre la cultura de la comunidad y en diálogo con el resto del mundo al atesorar bienes, piezas, escritos, elementos variados y obras de la producción artística.
Se encuentra en la calle Roca 644 en diagonal a la Municipalidad, conectado con la Casa del Bicentenario. Su horario de atención es de lunes a viernes de 8 a 20 hs, y durante fines de semana varía. Se realizan exposiciones permanentes, temporales e itinerantes.
La misión educativa del museo para con la comunidad es generar un núcleo abierto, dinámico y contemporáneo del que se puedan apropiar todos los integrantes de la ciudad y la comarca. También, reivindicar y fortalecer nuestras raíces, conociendo y explorando el presente como devenir de nuestra historia, generando vínculos con la comarca como parte fundacional de ella.
SOBRE EL MUSEO:
En el 2019 2 artistas y 2 arquitectos, unidos por las ganas de crear un museo en El Bolsón, crearon primero la Fundación FUCUCO y luego dieron comienzo a este proyecto que aún conserva a dos de sus fundadores.
Dentro del grupo de trabajo realizaron juntos las tareas de mejoras edilicias, elección de contenido de las muestras, curaduría y gráfica, proyectos educativos de visitas guiadas con escuelas e institutos de arte, y otras actividades concernientes a un museo, todo ad honorem, con la dificultad que eso significa de poder sustentarlo en el tiempo.
La Municipalidad cedió el espacio, y hoy se encarga del mantenimiento de los empleados. Las ventanas se taparon con Durlock para lograr más espacio expositivo ya que las dimensiones del museo son de 67mts (8,28 x 8,14) con una altura de 3mts.
La inauguración fue con una muestra de 3 artistas pioneros en el Bolsón en el 2022. Ocho meses después recibió un subsidio de FNA, con lo que pudo abastecerse de un Smart TV 4k de 70¨ y una computadora.
En el 2023 se inauguró la línea del tiempo de El Bolsón, donde figuran los inicios de la localidad, con hechos locales, nacionales e internacionales que dejaron huella en la conformación de la identidad de la localidad.

SOBRE EL EDIFICIO:
Antigua Caballeriza de Gendarmería Nacional
En 1932, Adalberto Pagano fue designado como gobernador del Territorio Nacional de Rio Negro por parte del Presidente de la Nación Agustín P. Justo, cargo que desempeñaría por 11 años consecutivos. Como gobernador, y con el apoyo económico de las autoridades nacionales y una singular visión de progreso apoyada fundamentalmente en la realización de obra pública, dejó todo el territorio rionegrino sembrado de obras que hoy aún perduran. Se destacaron las obras de infraestructura en salud, seguridad, educación y vial.
En ese contexto, en Noviembre de 1942 se da inicio a la construcción de la caballeriza
y depósito de la comisaría.
Don Osvaldo Wheretilnek, vecino de El Bolsón, recuerda:
“Donde está la casa del Bicentenario (y hoy también el Museo Artístico Histórico El Bolsón) estaba la caballeriza de Gendarmería Nacional, ahí había un ciprés impresionante, lo habían trabajado todo para hacer unos escalones y poder acceder a la planta alta donde se guardaba el forraje, abajo estaban los caballos. Todo dónde está ese barrio vecino lo ocupaba Gendarmería. Ahí donde está Sanidad de Gendarmería estaba la Proveduría del personal de la Institución, pegado estaba el taller mecánico para sus vehículos y en los terrenos de enfrente, donde están las dependencias municipales el restaurante y cervecería estaba la cancha de futbol, luego esos terrenos se entregan a Agua y Energía. Cuando se produce la provincialización del entonces Territorio Nacional de Río Negro, en la Comisaría y demás dependencias se instala la Policía de la Provincia.”

MAHBO
The MAHBO comes to cover a long-awaited space in the city of El Bolsón; it is a historical art museum that preserves the intangible and tangible cultural heritage of this community. In it, society collects, saves, disseminates, explains, and questions the culture of the community and engages in dialogues with the rest of the world by preserving assets, pieces, writings, various elements, and works of artistic production.
It is located at 644 Roca Street, across from the Municipality, connected to the Casa del Bicentenario. It is open Monday to Friday from 8 am to 8 pm, and on weekends it varies. Permanent, temporary, and itinerant exhibitions are held.
The educational mission of this museum is to generate an open, dynamic, and contemporary exhibitions that everyone in the city and the region can appropriate. It also aims to reclaim and strengthen our roots, knowing and exploring the present as the future of our history, generating links with the region as a foundational part of it.
ABOUT THE MUSEUM:
In 2019, 2 artists and 2 architects, united by the desire to create a museum in El Bolsón, first created the FUCUCO Foundation and then started this project.
The project was carried out by a team of workers who joined at tasks such as improving the building, selecting exhibition content, curation and graphics, educational projects and guided visits for schools and art institutes, and other activities related to a museum, all pro bono, accepting the challenge that this entails in terms of sustaining it over time.
The Municipality provided the space and now takes care of employees’ salaries. The refurbishing of the building required that the windows were covered with Durlock to achieve more exhibition space since the main room is quite small for the purposes, only 67 square meters (8.28 x 8.14) and 3 meters high.
The inauguration featured an exhibition by 3 pioneering artists in El Bolsón in 2022. For eight months, it received a subsidy from FNA, Fondo Nacional de las Artes, which allowed to supply the museum with a 70" 4k Smart TV and a computer.
In 2023, the timeline of El Bolsón was inaugurated, describing the beginnings of the town, with local, national, and international events that left a mark on the identity of this place.
ABOUT THE BUILDING: Former National Gendarmerie Stable
In 1932, Adalberto Pagano was appointed governor of the National Territory of Rio Negro by President Agustin P. Justo, a position he held for 11 consecutive years. As governor, with the economic support of national authorities and a unique vision of progress based primarily on the realization of public works, he left many public buildings on the entire territory of Rio Negro which are still in use today. Infrastructure works in health, security, education, and roads stand out.
In that context, in November 1942, the construction of the stable and storage facility for the Police station began.
Osvaldo Wheretilnek, a resident of El Bolsón, recalls:
"Where the Casa del Bicentenario is located (and today also the Historical Art Museum El Bolsón), there used to be the National Gendarmerie stable, with an impressive cypress tree. They worked in this stable to create proper stairs to access the upper floor where fodder was stored, and below were the horses. The entire neighborhood was occupied by the Gendarmerie. Where the Gendarmerie Health Center is currently located, there used to be the Institution's Procurement Office. Next to it was the mechanics workshop for their vehicles, and in the plot across the street, where the municipal buildings are, the restaurant and brewery used to be the soccer field, later those lands were handed over to Agua y Energía. When the then National Territory of Rio Negro became a province, the Province's Police were installed in the Police Station and other dependencies."
